What is the shortest allowed interval between the two required shots of Shingrix? Are there benefits or risks in a longer interval between shots?
The product monograph for Shingrix states that the primary vaccination schedule for Shingrix consists of two doses; an initial dose followed by a second dose administered anytime between 2 and 6 months later. Administration of the second dose of Shingrix is important to ensure maximum vaccine efficacy and duration of protection against Herpes Zoster (shingles) disease. We recommend that your contact your immunization provider who can further assess your risk and advise accordingly.
